what does in-home parent support look like?
EVIDENCE-BASED INFORMATION AND SUPPORT: Postpartum doulas are trained to understand what new babies – and new parents – truly need. The doula helps with soothing techniques, offers lactation or bottle feeding support, and explains normal newborn behaviour and postpartum recovery expectations.
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: The transition into new parenthood can be vulnerable, and postpartum doulas are experts in emotional support, active listening and encouraging their clients to follow their own hearts. Empathy, a hug or even a good laugh together can do so much for a new parent!
PRACTICAL SUPPORT: It’s all hands on deck with a new baby, and postpartum doulas can help the days go by more smoothly by helping with the baby’s laundry, doing the dishes or preparing simple, nourishing meals.
PARTNER AND SIBLING SUPPORT: A new baby means transition for everyone, including parents, grandparents and little brothers and sisters. Postpartum doulas understand what everyone needs, and part of their role is to help the entire family adjust and settle in.

Parents today can be so overwhelmed with the information available to them through social media, web searches, and beyond which can result in questioning their own parenting instincts and desires. My goal and hope is to come alongside parents and provide them strategies and suggestions based on attachment parenting style, and evidence-based research. I strive to empower parents to follow and trust in their intuition and feel confident that they know their child best.
I am excited to offer Postpartum Support through Rebirth. I understand that having a newborn comes with lots of different emotions, challenges, and questions. I can help you navigate what you are experiencing through guidance, listening, support, education, and reassurance right in your home.
Since 2006 I have had the absolute privilege of supporting parents and their children in a number of capacities. From facilitating a parent and baby playgroup, playing guitar for toddlers and preschoolers, supporting first-time moms who are navigating the first few months of parenting, to creating and facilitating a variety of workshops on popular topics (e.g. Infant Sleep, Crying & Development, All About Toddlers, Toilet Learning, Parenting Myths, and more).
I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator, Postpartum Doula (Qualifying), Certified Infant Massage Instructor, Circle of Security Facilitator, and Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting Instructor.
